Description: Officer Stem and Officer Charles Huckeba responded to a domestic disturbance call at a local residence. As the officers approached the house they were greeted with a hail of gunfire. Officer Stem was shot in the back and paralyzed. He continued receiving medical treatment for the next twenty-three years before he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Huckeba was shot in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.
