Description: Night Watchman Self was shot while confronting the occupants of a car that had pulled up in front of Mechanical Hall at approximately 11:00 in the evening. It was illegal to drive through the University property after hours and Watchman Self told the driver that he was going to take them to the police station when one of the men opened fire, striking him once. Despite being mortally wounded, Watchman Self returned fire and shot the man twice. His assailant was taken into custody.
