Description: Deputy Sykes, accompanied by two officers, attempted to arrest three robbery suspects. As they detained two of the suspects, a third came from behind and shot Deputy Sykes in the neck and leg. Deputy Sykes was taken to the hospital where he died the next day from his injuries. Deputy Sykes' assailant was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death by electrocution.
