Description: Sergeant Stauffer was shot and killed while pursuing an armed bank robber. Sergeant Stauffer and a fellow officer were responding to a holdup alarm at a bank when the officers were suddenly ambushed and shot by the suspect. Sergeant Stauffer died at the scene. The second officer survived. The suspect was later shot and killed by law enforcement officers while attempting to rob another bank.
