Description: Situation began as a missing person complaint. Sheriff Sledge and Deputy Herman G. Arndt went to a local bar with a man who was looking for his wife. An argument broke out and gun fire was exchanged. Sheriff Sledge was wounded and died two weeks later. Deputy Arndt was killed instantly.
