Description: Sergeant Lauriston Stewart was in pursuit of a suspect who had just shot Patrolman John Carville when the suspect drew a gun and shot him multiple times. Patrolman Carville died of his injuries the next day. Sergeant Stewart died five days later on July 22nd. Their assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to life which was later commuted to 20 years in prison
