Description: Patrolman Schellbach was fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire as he attempted to apprehend three suspects who had just robbed a grocery store. Patrolman Schellbach was responding to an assistance call by a fellow officer who was also wounded by the suspects. Two suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. The third suspect committed suicide in his jail cell.
