Description: Deputies Stapleton and Stanley Helton were shot as they attempted to serve a murder warrant. As the officers approached the residence, the suspect opened fire with a shot gun, killing Deputy Stapleton and seriously wounding Deputy Helton. Deputy Helton was transported to a doctor's office where he succumbed to his injuries twelve days later.
