Description: Officer Saffran arrived at the scene of a reported bank robbery and immediately pursued a vehicle that was speeding away from the bank. The suspect crashed his vehicle and took a hostage. The hostage escaped, and officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect killing him. Officer Saffran and the female hostage were critically injured by gunfire. Officer Saffran was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
