Description: Sergeant Smith was struck and killed while working a traffic detail. Sergeant Smith was struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while standing next to his patrol vehicle with the emergency lights activated. Sergeant Smith was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries four days later. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
