Description: Deputy Salyer was shot four times with a .32 revolver while investigating a disturbance at a campsite in Breaks Interstate Park. The department had received several calls regarding drunk and disorderly conduct by some campers. Deputy Salyer died at the scene. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison.
