Description: City Marshal Solomon was struck as he attempted to flag down a train. Marshal Solomon and Deputy Sheriff Tom Ellis had arrested a drunk and disorderly passenger on the train at Valley View and were preparing to transport the suspect back to Lancaster. When Marshal Solomon stepped onto the middle track to flag the oncoming train, he tripped and fell on the track and was fatally struck by the train.
