Description: Officer Stovall and Officer Britt Irvine were responding to a disabled motorist call during the California floods of 1998. The roadway ahead had washed away, causing the officers' patrol unit to plunge into the river. Officer Stovall suffered massive head injuries and a broken neck. Both bodies were recovered after California Highway Patrol unit was pulled from the water.
