Description: Deputy Sheriff Shamblin died while transporting a prisoner to the State penitentiary, when his patrol car was forced to the side of the road and then bombarded with gunfire. Deputy Shamblin and Deputy George Dudley were transporting a convicted felon who earlier that day received a 25 year sentence for armed robbery.
