Description: Deputy Sam Sixkiller was ambushed and killed while walking down the street in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Although his murderers were able to escape justiceon a technicality, Congress reacted by making it a federal offenseto kill any Indian police officer (18 U.S.C. 1114).
