Description: Detective Smith, a member of the departments auto theft squad, was returning from an investigating an auto theft in Mabelton, Georgia when his department vehicle was struck by another car. Detective Smith's vehicle overturned and struck a utility pole. Detective Smith was transported to a local hospital and treated for a broken back. He succumbed to his injuries two days later.
