Description: Detective Slater and Patrolman George Brandsma were shot when they arrived at a residence to arrest four suspect bank robbers. Patrolman Brandsma was instantly killed as he forced his way into house. Detective Slater was shot twice in the abdomen died two days later at the hospital. Detective Slater is the brother of Patrolman Henry Slater [17-W: 10].
