Description: Investigator Sandberg was fatally shot with his own gun while monitoring a suspect receiving treatment in the hospital. The suspect was in custody due to a domestic incident. The suspect was not under arrest and was not handcuffed. The suspect became combative and a physical struggle ensued. The suspect was able to gain control of Investigator Sandberg's service weapon and shot him several times. Security officers subdued the suspect with Tasers. Shortly after the incident, the suspect suffered a medical emergency and died. Investigator Sandberg died at the scene.
