Description: On June 23, 1930, Police Officer Schmitt was injured in a motorcycle crash when the car in front of him turned abruptly without signaling. Officer Schmitt was transported to the hospital with internal injuries and his leg broken in five places. Officer Schmitt never returned to regular duty and medically retired six months later in December. Officer Schmitt died of an abscess on January 26, 1932.
