Description: Patrolman II Schultz was ambushed and shot while investigating a report of a suspect breaking into a Merrillville condominium. The suspect had been evicted from that condominium in July due to foreclosure. When Patrolman Schultz arrived on the scene, the suspect opened fire. Patrolman Schultz was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries two days later. The suspect committed suicide.
