Description: Deputy Sheriff Shoemate was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a structure fire call. Deputy Shoemate had his emergency lights and siren activated when he collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle as he tried to pass a slower moving vehicle. Deputy Shoemate died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
