Description: Night Patrolman Slaton was shot in the abdomen in an exchange of gunfire as he attempted to arrest an intoxicated suspect who was causing a public disturbance. Patrolman Slaton returned fire and fatally shot the suspect. Patrolman Slaton died of his injuries several hours later.
