Description: Patrol Officer Smith was injured when he attempted to stop a pair of runaway horses which threatened both motorists and pedestrians. Officer Smith was dragged over 100 feet before he could be rescued. Officer Smith returned to work after two years and was placed on light duty. Officer Smith's health remained poor and he died one week after emergency surgery.
