Description: Auxiliary Deputy Smith was shot and killed while in pursuit of a burglary suspect. Deputy Smith located the suspect and engaged in a foot pursuit. The suspect turned and fired on Deputy Smith, striking him in the chest, piercing his ballistic vest. Deputy Smith was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wound.
