Description: On December 6, 2018, Police Officer Smith was shot and wounded as he responded to a disturbance at a dentist office. When Officer Smith arrived on scene, the suspect became combative and attempted to disarm Officer Smith of his service weapon. The suspect and Officer Smith struggled and the gun discharged killing the suspect and striking Officer Smith in the face. Officer Smith was transported to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery; however, he later suffered complications and died on December 28, 2018.
