Description: On September 22, 2010, Sergeant Stanton was involved in two separate incidents where he engaged in foot pursuit of suspects. Shortly after apprehending the suspect, Sergeant Stanton was sweating profusely, short of breath and lightheaded. Sergeant Stanton did not seek medical attention and continued his shift. The next day, Sergeant Stanton reported for duty but complained of flu-like symptoms. On September 24th, Sergeant Stanton called in sick and was off-duty on the 25th and 26th. On September 27th while at home, Sergeant Stanton was found unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital and died of a heart attack later that evening.
