Description: Deputy Sheffield, Sheriff J. P. McInnis and Chief Stephen Davis were all shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect on domestic violence charges. The suspect fatally shot Chief Davis and wounded two deputies as they approached the house. The lawmen retreated. A second attempt was made and the suspect opened fire again, killing Deputy Sheffield and Sheriff McInnis. As the Albany Guard approached the residence, the suspect committed suicide.
