Description: Deputy Sass was killed in an automobile accident while he and another deputy were en route to the department shooting range. Deputy Sass was in the passenger's seat when their patrol vehicle was struck on the side by a SUV. Deputy Sass was killed instantly. His partner, Deputy Ian Stewart, was transported to a local hospital with head injuries but was later released.
