Description: Patrolman Stewart was shot in the legs and abdomen while attempting to arrest a suspect who had shot another man. Patrolman Stewart returned fire, wounding his assailant. Patrolman Stewart died of his injuries later that evening. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death via the electric chair.
