Description: On November 13, 1951, Chief Smith was in a caf? having dinner when a man walked in with a 12-guage shotgun. The man, who was angry regarding a previous arrest by Chief Smith, shot him in the lower right side. Chief Smith died from his wounds five days later. The man was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.
