Description: Chief Snuggs was shot while attempting to break up brawl between two brothers, Kirk & Keithan Furr. After examining his wounds, the doctor recommended that he be taken to the Wadesboro Sanitorium. The train to Wadesboro was two hours late that day and Chief Snuggs died 2 1/2 hours after being shot. Kirk Furr had attacked Chief Snuggs the previous summer, beating him severely with a beer bottle.
