Description: Deputy Smithson was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect wanted for assaulting his employer. As Deputy Smithson approached the suspect and called out to him, the man drew a .38 Smith and Wesson and shot Deputy Smithson five times. Deputy Smithson was transported to the hospital where he died the next day. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
