Description: Police Officer Smith was walking to work when he was struck by a train. Officer Smith was struck by a freight car that was backing across the crossing. Because there were several trains in the vicinity, it was possible that Officer Smith did not hear the train and also did not see the train because of the darkness of the early morning.
