Description: Special Deputy Marshal Spivey was shot and killed while attempting to arrest two horse thieves in Indiana Territory (Oklahoma). Marshal Spivey tracked the men to the Red River and a gun battle ensued. Marshal Spivey was fatally wounded in the incident but managed to shoot one of the suspects. The suspect was sentenced to death and killed in 1875.
