Description: Sergeant Tingwall succumbed to injuries sustained during a helicopter accident in subfreezing weather. Sergeant Tingwall and a fellow officer were rescuing a lost hiker in a helicopter when the weather took a turn for the worse. While attempting to fly the lost hiker to a safe location, the helicopter's rear blade struck a tree, causing the helicopter to crash. Although wearing seatbelts at the time, both the hiker and Sergeant Tingwall were ejected in the crash, while the second officer remained restrained by his seatbelt. Search-and-rescue teams found the second officer and airlifted him to the hospital, where he was treated and released. Sergeant Tingwall and the hiker were later found dead at the scene of the crash.
