Description: On April 29, 1962, Wildlife Ranger Thornton sustained multiple injuries when his department vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. Ranger Thornton was on patrol when his vehicle was struck broadside by another car travelling at a high rate of speed. Ranger Thornton was transported to a local hospital where he received continuous medical until his death three weeks later on May 19, 1962.
