Description: Patrolman Teare was shot when he responded to shots fired where a suspect had killed Patrolman William Heaney and a gangster. Patrolman Teare was transported to the hospital where he died the next day. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in the electric chair. But before the sentence could be carried out, he escaped from Sing Sing prison in 1916, fatally shooting Prison Officer Daniel McCarthy and wounding another guard. The suspect was electrocuted for his crimes.
