Description: Deputy Tidwell was shot and critically wounded when he and his deputy attempted to aid a motorist who had run out of gas. When Deputy Tidwell approached the vehicle, he saw illegal liquor inside and attempted to arrest the three suspects. Two suspects fled the scene but the third suspect shot Deputy Tidwell in his face and abdomen. Deputy Trya, who was wounded, returned fire and killed the suspect. Deputy Tidwell died three day later from his injuries.
