Description: Sergeant Timberlake and a group of lawmen lay in wait for the arrival of a known group of smugglers. As one of the bandits passed by, one of the lawmen called out to him. The bandit responded with gunfire one of which struck Sergeant Timberlake. The bandit was shot and killed. Sergeant Timberlake died the next day of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
