Description: Deputy U.S. Marshal Torbett and Sheriff S.A. McAlexander were shot when they went to a residence to arrest a fugitive on a tobacco tax charge in Henry County, TN. The suspect shot both lawmen. Deputy Torbett received a fatal wound to the stomach. Sheriff McAlexander's heavy overcoat saved him from serious injury.
