Description: Police Officer Thornton was killed by a flash-bang device that exploded while he was rendering his SWAT equipment safe after completing a call. Officer Thornton returned home from answering the call and was in the process of securing his equipment when the device accidentally detonated in his garage. Officer Thornton was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died during surgery.
