Description: Deputies Terry, Lucille Helm and Oscar De Vaney were returning from Modesto where they had delivered a female mental patient. An oncoming driver suffered a heart attack, crossed the divider strip and crashed head-on into the Sheriff's Department car. Deputies Terry, Helm, and the driver were killed instantly. Deputy De Vaney survived.
