Description: Deputy Thomas, along with fellow officers, conducted a raid on a whiskey still located deep in the woods. The lawmen were fired upon as they approached the still. Deputy Thomas was shot and died at the scene. Deputy Owen Taylor was also shot but recovered. One suspect was wounded and arrested. Two suspects escaped.
