Description: On May 1, 1927, Deputy Sheriff Talley was shot after he questioned a suspect who was creating a disturbance at a local bar. Deputy Talley instructed the suspect to stop disturbing the peace and go home. Deputy Talley watched the suspect leave and began to walk away. The suspect pulled a handgun and shot Deputy Talley in the back. Deputy Talley was paralyzed by the shot that had severed his spinal cord. Deputy Talley died two years later on August 24, 1929, from his injuries.
