Description: Detective Thomas was shot and killed by a suspect while he sat in his unmarked cruiser. Detective Thomas had just left an Aurora Training Session and was proceeding to another training assignment when the incident occurred. The suspect approached Detective Thomas' cruiser and fatally shot him under the arm, and under his vest. Two corrections officers witnessed the shooting and captured the suspect. Detective Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. Court testimony verified that the suspect knew Agent Thomas was a law enforcement officer and shot in an act of retaliation.
