Description: Police Officers Paul Trent and Martin Joyce were responding to a suicide call and Pierce County Deputy Sheriffs Lawrence Bunce and Arthur Varco were responding to a three-car automobile crash when both emergency vehicles crashed at an intersection. The vehicles were responding with emergency lights and sirens activated and did not hear or see the other. Deputy Varco, Deputy Bunce and Officer Trent died at the scene. Officer Joyce succumbed to his injuries two days later. Inadvertent action.
