Description: Detective Thomas died as a result of injuries sustained during a department mounted horse training on May 30, 2009. Detective Thomas mounted was in the process of certifying a horse for the mounted patrol when the horse backed up against a fence, pinning Detective Thomas. The horse fell on Detective Thomas, breaking his neck and paralyzing him from the neck down. Detective Thomas died as a result of these injuries on December 28, 2012.
