Description: Deputy Tanner was flagged down by local citizens in a residential area. They reported that a suspicious vehicle had just sped through their neighborhood of Zanesville, Ohio. Deputy Tanner notified dispatch and provided the license plate number before pursuing the vehicle. After additional radio contact could not be made with Deputy Tanner, fellow deputies responded to his last location. Deputy Tanner's body was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. Deputy Tanner was transported to a local hospital where he died 45 minutes after arrival.
