Description: Officer Timoshenko was shot when he and Officer Yan spotted a suspicious vehicle and made a traffic stop. As Officer Timoshenko and his partner approached the car, one of the suspects opened fire with a .45 caliber handgun. Officer Timoshenko was struck twice in the face. Officer Yan was shot in the arm by another suspect but was able to call for back-up and return fire. The three suspects fled the scene. Officer Timoshenko died five days later at the hospital. Officer Yan survived. The suspect was convicted of murder and attempted aggravated murder and sentenced to life without parole.
