Description: Deputy Tyus was accidentally shot when he was mistaken for a burglar in the darkness by another officer. Deputy Tyus went to a residence serve a warrant for a bootlegger but the suspect was not there. The woman inside the house believed the man outside was a burglar and went out the back door and called an officer for help. The officer arrived at the residence and spotted the alleged burglar. Deputy Tyus thought that the officer was the bootlegger. The officer, who thought that the approaching burglar was about to attack, fatally shot Deputy Tyus. Friendly fire.
